'Electric Feel,' MGMT
From 2007's 'Oracular Spectacular'
It's not often that I'm hooked thirty seconds into a track. But it just happened. The band? MGMT. The song? 'Electric Feel.' The Brooklyn troupe, who started as duo but have since graduated into full-blown rock outfit, strike up a melodic, synth-laden groove on this tune, and it struck an immediate chord. The band puts a unique back-to-basics spin on everything from Prince, Bee-Gees, Hot Chip and of Montreal on a song that I imagine in a TV advert any day now.
